Steppe fauna is typical for the territory of the nature reserve and its surroundings. The majority of the animals inhabiting this area (around 75%) are invertebrates.

The vertebrates include:

• mammals — 37 species;
• birds — 241 species;
• reptiles — 10 species;
• amphibians — 3 species;
• fish — 65 species.

The nature reserve is home to 736 species of plants:

• vascular plants — 473 species;
  
• mosses — 49 species;
  
• algae — 214 species.
